If you haven’t picked up your Christmas tree now is the time. One of the best services in town is provided by local Encinal Nursery. My family has a tradition of getting a 10′-12′ tree and very much appreciate not having to deal with the hassle of transporting and setting it up. They do that for you and provide the stand! You can go by at lunch and pick out a beautiful Douglas Fur or Silver Tip. While there, you can pick up your seasonal paper whites and amaryllis along with wreaths and garlands. By dinner the tree arrives and is ready for trimming. Prices are reasonable and the service is friendly.
Also, planning has begun for Troop 11’s annual Christmas Tree Pick-up. Shortly after the new year, Scouts will span out over the island and collect Christmas Trees for recycling. Supplementing the efforts of Alameda County Industries, trees recycled through Troop 11 are returned to Alameda as mulch for the Alameda Point Collaborative and Harbor Bay Business Park.
Started over 30 years ago as an Eagle project, by Hal Zecher, the Annual Christmas Tree pick-up has become an Alameda tradition. For more info go to website
